dumbo darkly

Fake Love, The New York Times’ experiential agency, was asked to research and develop an Augmented Reality Scavenger Hunt for a global client. Along with an amazing team of creative talent, we conceived and executed a spooky mobile experience featuring a guided AR tour of Dumbo, Brooklyn—narrated by yours truly.


After dreaming up the names and descriptions of five ghoulish ghosts, Illustrator Kurt Huggins took (digital) pen to paper to create these initial character designs.


Based on these illustrations, a number of AR characters were designed and animated to live in our humorous horror world.


With an easily digestible user experience, our app encouraged exploration and adventure around our neighborhood.
