Chip is a character I’ve portrayed in a series of short films over the years. A perfect representation of all my worst instincts and the way my life may have turned out had I not met then married my wonderful wife.
In 2019, I wrote and directed the short film Laundry Day on a shoestring budget with a cast and crew of just five people. It was a fun, day-long shoot made that much more enjoyable by casting comedian friends Julia Shiplett and Courtney Maginnis.
Later that year, I headed to my hometown of Buffalo, NY to visit friends. While there, I took the opportunity to work with my cinematographer friend and his 1-year old son to shoot a follow-up short titled Uncle Chip!
The original Chip short was written and directed by Dean Peterson with a lot of my creative input. Almost every scene was shot on-location at my local hangs, including my favorite bar, Over the Eight, and my actual apartment.
Over the years, shooting these short films made me realize how much fun I have portraying Chip in these wacky scenarios. So, I took pen to paper once again and wrote a 30-minute Chip! pilot. Then, along with PH45 and Executive Producer, Caitlin Hodson, we independently produced the pilot, which is currently in the post-production stage.
